The World Snooker Championship is nearly upon us! Join thousands of fans from 20th April to 6th May, at Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre, to watch Mark Williams defend his 2018 title – the first title he’s won in fifteen years.
Now more than a hundred years old, the World Snooker Championship is the most prestigious snooker tournament in the world, with the largest prize money; and it has been held at the stunning Sheffield Crucible Theatre since 1977. The venue is fully accessible, and there are three ticket options: choose a standard ticket; a premium package, with prime seats and an earpiece to hear the live commentary; or splash out on a VIP package, with its numerous perks including a glass of bubbly and VIP restaurant experience, and even meeting a World Snooker legend and taking a picture with the World Championship trophy!
There’s plenty happening around the Championship to keep you busy: Crucible Corner, just opposite the Crucible Theatre, will be open daily from 9am until late, serving a full menu and drinks throughout the day. Make sure you pop along to Cue Zone, too, located in the Winter Gardens on Tudor Square: here, you can watch the BBC team presenting live from their on-site studio, and even receive a free coaching session on a full-sized snooker table! Even better, entrance is completely free.
Whether you’re attending an event, or simply coming to Sheffield to share the exciting buzz surrounding the event, you’re best to book early, as hotels get very busy. Located an easy 10-minute walk away from the Crucible Theatre, staying with us at the Sheffield Metropolitan will ensure you’re in the heart of the action!
